Terms & Conditions

• By creating an account or using Nexus Chat, you agree to these Terms & Conditions in full.
• If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not register or use this platform.
• These terms apply to all users — lobby chat, private messages, chat rooms, voice calls, and video calls.
• We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

• You must be at least 13 years of age to register. Users under 18 require parental or guardian consent.
• You must provide a valid email address for OTP verification. Disposable or fake email addresses are not allowed.
• Each person may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to evade bans is prohibited.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Do not share your credentials with anyone.
• Usernames must not impersonate other users, staff, or well-known individuals.

The following are strictly forbidden in all areas of Nexus Chat — lobby, private messages, rooms, voice, and video:

• Sexual or explicit content — pornographic images, videos, voice messages, or text of any kind.
• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — zero tolerance. Will be reported to law enforcement immediately.
• Hate speech & slurs — content targeting race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.
• Harassment & threats — bullying, doxxing, stalking, or threatening any individual.
• Self-harm promotion — encouraging, glorifying, or instructing self-harm or suicide.
• Spam & flooding — sending repetitive messages, unsolicited promotions, or automated bot traffic.
• Scams & fraud — phishing links, impersonation for financial gain, or any deceptive practice.
• Illegal content — content relating to drug trade, weapons, piracy, or any activity illegal in your jurisdiction.
• Malware & exploits — sharing files, links, or code intended to harm devices or steal data.
• Impersonation of admins — claiming to be an Overseer or staff member to manipulate other users.

• Accepted file types: images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP) and audio (MP3, OGG, WAV, WebM, M4A).
• Maximum file size per upload: 10 MB.
• Uploading images or audio containing explicit, violent, or illegal content is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate ban.
• Do not upload files containing malware, scripts, or executable code.
• All uploaded media is stored on the server and may be reviewed by Overseers at any time.

• Voice and video calls are peer-to-peer (WebRTC) between consenting users who have not blocked each other.
• Recording calls without the explicit consent of all parties may be illegal in your jurisdiction. Nexus Chat does not permit call recording.
• Exposing yourself or another person via video in a sexual or inappropriate manner is prohibited.
• Each user can disable incoming calls at any time via Privacy Settings.
• Overseers can revoke your voice and video call permissions at any time.

• We collect your username, email address, IP address, and chat activity to operate and moderate the platform.
• Your IP address is logged on every login and may be used to block spammers and abusers.
• Messages you send — including private messages — can be reviewed by Overseers for moderation purposes.
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
• Your password is stored as a secure hash (bcrypt). We cannot recover it — only reset it.
• SMTP email is used only to send OTP verification codes and password reset codes.

Nexus Chat is moderated by Overseers (administrators) who have full authority to enforce these rules.

• Any registered user can create a chat room. The creator is responsible for the activity within their room.
• Room names and descriptions must not contain prohibited language or content.
• Overseers may delete any room at any time without prior notice if it violates these terms.
• Rooms are public to all registered users. Do not share sensitive personal information in rooms.

• Nexus Chat is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We are not liable for any content posted by users. Users are solely responsible for what they send.
• We do not guarantee 100% uptime or data retention. Message history may be cleared at any time.
• We are not responsible for any harm, loss, or dispute arising from interactions between users on this platform.
• Links or content shared by other users may lead to external sites — we have no control over and bear no responsibility for external content.

• We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account at our sole discretion, with or without notice.
• Upon termination, all your messages and uploaded media may be deleted.
• If your IP address is blocked, you will be unable to register a new account from that IP.
